Local celebrities from Hastings and Prince Edward Counties are matched with a dance teacher. They will be polishing up their dance moves to wow the audience. At the end of the show, audience members will get their chance to vote for a favourite and one pair will be crowned Dancing with the Stars of Quinte champions following in the footsteps of past winners, Jeanette Arsenault and Dave Allen, Sue Rollins and Mark Philbin and Andrea Doucette and Todd Smith.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Hastings & Prince Edward Counties has been creating friendships since 1974 in Belleville and the surrounding area. We started out matching Big Brothers with Little Brothers and have grown to include a variety of different programs that serve both boys and girls. We are proud of our achievements and continue to strive to be on the leading edge of the Big Brothers Big Sisters movement in Canada.
From its incorporation in Belleville in 1974, Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Hastings & Prince Edward Counties has endeavoured to offer parent-absent boys and girls quality friendships through its screening of volunteers and attention to matches. In January of 1999, the agency was delighted to assume the service area of Prince Edward County and in 2000 the responsibility of servicing Centre Hastings as well. In 2004, Big Brothers assumed the responsibility of serving girls in our community and in 2009, with the amalgamation of the Belleville and Trenton Big Brother Big Sister offices, we now serve Quinte West as well.
We are a non-profit, charitable organization with a volunteer Board of Directors, who promote and establish the policies of service. Our geographic area of our service includes all of Prince Edward County, Belleville, Quinte West and Centre Hastings (Madoc, Marmora, Tweed, Stirling) a total population of close to 200,000.
Much of the program's success can be attributed to the volunteers who have given their time as Big Brothers and Big Sisters, Board Members and Volunteers.
